During

During your gliders pregnancy you will want to be VERY, VERY, VERY careful of her! If you grab her too rough you can rip the joey off the nipple from the inside & it cannot reattach, resulting in death.

You also should supplement in a lot more calcium as well as protein for your little girl! Providing her with extra protein & calcuim will ensure that her little body can take the pregnancy & keep her & the joeys healthy!

I feed my expecting mothers a frozen pinky mouse once every two weeks. This is to ensure that she is getting a good amount of what she needs. They would also do this in the wild so I feel it is for the best for my animals.

There are other ways of going about this. Like feeding extra bugs, yogurt, cheeses, specially made supplements, cooked meats, tofu, the list could go on.

Some reasons your gliders may have eaten her young will be if theh were either bred too soon, young, or its their first litter, they were not given a proper diet/housing environment, their simply could have been something wrong with the joey(s), or they may have just had too much stress of being a new parents.

If this occurs after about 3 or 4 litters I would NOT continue to breed that animal. It is not worth it to their health & the joeys.

Please be responsible & neuter your male if they keep cannablizing their young!
