This is a problem that male chinchillas will develop as they get older. This will increase when they start breeding. They will have a ring of hair around their penis that you will have to remove. This can cause MAJOR problems if let go. Letting this go can cause death to the chinchilla, if they are unable to remove it themselves. Most times they can though! The male chinchillas should be checked once a month & if not in breeding then every few months. (A lot of times this will take more than one person to do.)

You have to slowly roll the penis out & then carefully remove the hair. * One major downfall to males!* If you arent sure how to do it, its best to contact your Vet for help!
