Here is my current set up's for my hedgehogs. Rubbermaid bins are GREAT for hogs!(Those are a great idea & I would like to hug whomever thought of that!!!) They are easy to clean & seem to be the best caging I have found so far!
I would love to one day get a bigger better set up for them & I have seen some really great ideas put into some peoples set ups. I cannot afford to rebuild ours at this point.. & I REALLY don't have any room to make any big elaborate kingdoms for them in this house. But we we move I hope to work on a better set up for them. For now we have a do-able set up that they seem to have no problems with. One day, my hope is to have a kids plastic swimming pool for them to be housed in.. we will see though. I'm not sure how great of an idea that is yet.
My two are already good at escaping from their homes as it is.
Right now I of course have two different cages for them since they can't always be together. Morndred & Thistle switch back & forth from cage to cage depending on their breeding program at that time & if & when hoglets are caged with them.
I have a nice super pet cage that is great because of the venting it has. I also have a nice size rubbermaid bin that also has good venting due to not needing to use the lid. Both homes are great & since they are switched around from one to one on occasion I think it provides a good source of exploration for them! I try to change our cage layouts, toys, huts, pouches, etc often to give them a fun place to live that isn't boring & the 'same old.'
They get Tons of toys like plastic easter egg shells, balls, pacifiers, tubes, shoes, you name it, they have it. The most important part of their cage I would have to say is their WHEEL! Thistle doesn't always get hers due to sometimes having hoglets, but she sure takes advantage of it when she does!!!!!
