WHS(Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome)

This is a fairly common disorder for hedgies kept in colder climbates or without a source of heat in the winter months. This disorder can become VERY deadly & or even put your hog into shock.

If your hedgie is wobbly, cold to the touch, or lethargic you need to heat them up FAST!!!!! Of course don't do it TOO fast as that can also send them into shock. Instead either get a heating pad & set them on it with the setting on low, use towels after they have been in the dryer for a few, or put them under your shirt for body heat. After your hedgie is all warmed up you may want to get a Vet. check up to make sure there are no problems with the hog.

Another good idea i have read about is to check for a draft around your cage, you can do this by burning a candle around all directions of the cage, if it flickers, there is a draft & the hedge NEEDS to be moved!

To avoid this from happening again, keep the house warmer, get them their own personal heating pad, or get some sort of other heating device! But remember too hot can also lead to problems!!!!
