The kits won’t need much attention from you other than if mamma doesn’t enough milk supply & to tame them. They are born with full hair, open eyes, teeth, & can hope around.
Mamma can normally do it all on her own & she is best unless its for a life threatening reason!
Everyone should know by now that they normally have 1-3 babies. (They can have more, but its rare; older females tend to have more as I have been told.)
Kits at birth typically weigh around 25-60 grams.(depending on the mother & father, how many kits there were, what the mother was fed, & lastly how she was overall kept.) Babies should gain about 2 to 5 grams a day (approximately.) The mother will start to rapidly lose her baby fat soon after the kits are born! (Make sure its not too fast, that could be a sign of poor health in the mother & something could be wrong.)
Kits are generally full grown by 9 months of age, I personally think mine normally stop growing around a year to a year & a half of age. (Although color mutations take a bit longer to mature than a standard would.)
If its needed to feed the kits because the mother rejects them, doesnt have enough milk, or the kits are fighting hand feeing is in your future!
You will need a glass or plastic syringe or dropper. Rubber will not last long, even plastic will need to be replaced, since the kits have teeth. You can use condensed milk, puppy milk, or even breast milk with water added as a supplement to help your growing kits.(there are a number of things you can use in place of the mothers milk, but i would always check with your Vet & or breeder. ) I normally mix in a little baby rice cereal & a dab of fruit yogurt in the with milk replacer & i have had success with that.
Good luck & if you need help call your Vet or get intouch with someone who can help ASAP!
