Play Time is one of the single most important times to the chinchilla & for the chinchilla. It helps them stay in shape, bounce, & actually get running. This also gives them time to explore! Chinchillas love to play & bounce off the walls. I have a tent that they get to run in & also have a pin; sometimes they run all over the room. It's especially important to NEVER let the chinchillas run free all the time & NEVER without supervision!

There are many household threats that can harm your pet. (wires, other animals, chairs, couches; they will chew & try anything, plants that are poisons, it's just more wise to watch them in a proofed room.) They can fit anywhere, so you have to watch that as well.

A big thing to watch for is that when catching them when play time is over that you don't squeeze them. They have little ribs & they can break easily. The tail is another no no, you don't want to pull on this, because it can fall off, & will NOT grow back.

They should be allowed play time for at least a half hour to an hour a night! Tubes, toys, & a dust bath left out for play time can bring even more fun to them! Once again be creative & let them play with whatever they will that is safe! They like to hide, chew, bounce, explore, & play.
