The tail is a Very important part of the chinchilla. It's also a very different part.

 The tail is much like a squirrels. It is very course fur & is more like whiskers than fur. It's very important NOT to pull on the tip of the tail. This will cause for the tail to fall off. (its a defense thing they use in the wild!) The tail will NOT grow back, they have one & only ONE! *so be careful!* However, its recommended to support your chinchilla by the base of the tail when carrying it & or placing it back into its cage.
